New weather maps show every corner of Britain hit as 48 hours of snow slowly covers the country.
WXCharts has forecast snow will sweep across the UK at the end of next week (November 23 to 25), bringing with it low temperatures and rain.
Snow will start in the southwest of England (Plymouth, Southampton) and south Wales (Cardiff) on Saturday lunchtime, with up to 5cm is estimated to fall in places.
It will then move north east over the Midlands (Birmingham) to reach the north of England (York, Sheffield, Carlisle), south Scotland (Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dumfries) and Northern Ireland (Derry, Belfast) by Sunday lunchtime.
By Sunday lunchtime, the snow will be over much of Scotland (Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Inverness, Wick). Heavy rain will follow behind the snow across the weekend.
The Met Office said of the period: “Cold or very cold conditions are likely to affect most if not all parts of the UK early in this period, with wintry showers affecting in particular northern parts and exposed coastal districts.
“Overnight frost will likely be widespread and occasionally strong winds will result in significant wind chill. However, there may be more organised areas of rain and snow, accompanied by strong winds, which run across some parts.
“This could lead to some disruptive weather at times, especially at the start of this period. Briefly milder conditions may accompany these in the south.
“There is a hint that it may become less cold late in the period, but still likely remain mostly unsettled with further spells of rain and snow.”
The forecaster also issued a forecast for the coming days, which is below.
Tonight:
Cloud and patchy rain will move southwards across Scotland, Northern Ireland and into northern England. Showers following, these wintry over the hills. Clear spells further south, with a patchy frost.
Saturday:
Cloud and patchy rain will continue to move southwards across England and Wales. Sunny spells and scattered showers elsewhere, falling as snow for parts of Scotland. Colder in the north.
Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:
Sunny spells and wintry showers in the north. Cloudier elsewhere, with outbreaks of rain and stronger winds developing at times. Perhaps some snow over the higher ground. Colder for many.
