Weather maps forecast snow wall from Northern Ireland to Germany – 44 UK counties affected | Weather | News

The UK is in for a February flurry of snow, with 44 counties and authorities expected to be blanketed, according to WX Charts.

A wall of snow stretching from Northern Ireland to Germany is forecast for noon on February 20.

As well as snowfall, the mercury is predicted to fall dramatically, with bitter -2C or -3C temperatures felt across the country from Wales to East Anglia, Northumberland to Hampshire.

The heaviest of the snow will be seen in the north of England, according to the forecaster, however counties further south will see a dusting, too.

The Met Office, the UK’s official forecaster, does not predict snow so far ahead of the date in question. That’s because snowfall in the UK is notoriously difficult to predict given the number of variabilities at play.

Nevertheless, WX Charts’ radar shows that 44 counties and unitary authorities are in for wintery downpours later this month.

Which 44 counties and authorities are set for snow?

Northern Ireland:

  • Causeway Coast and Glens
  • Mid and East Antrim
  • Antrim and Newtownabbey

Scotland:

  • Argyll and Bute
  • Dumfries and Galloway
  • Scottish Borders
  • West Lothian
  • City of Edinburgh
  • Midlothian
  • East Lothian

England:

  • Northumberland

  • Cumbria
  • Westmorland and Furness
  • Tyne and Wear
  • County Durham
  • Hartlepool
  • Darlington
  • Stockton-on-Tees
  • Middlesbrough
  • Redcar and Cleveland
  • North Yorkshire
  • Lancashire
  • West Yorkshire
  • York
  • East Riding of Yorkshire
  • South Yorkshire
  • Lincolnshire
  • North Lincolnshire
  • Derbyshire
  • Derby
  • Nottinghamshire
  • Nottingham
  • Leicestershire
  • Leicester
  • Norfolk
  • Cambridgeshire
  • Greater Manchester
  • Manchester
  • Blackburn with Darwen
  • Stoke-on-Trent
  • Staffordshire
  • West Midlands
  • Shropshire
  • Telford and Wrekin

Today:

Tuesday will bring another grey and cold day, with some rain and hill snow in the north and east. A few sunny spells developing across northwest England and western Scotland. Breezy.

Tonight:

Rather cloudy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle across much of England, Wales and southern Scotland. Some cloud breaks will allow frost and patchy fog to develop across the west.

Wednesday:

Often cloudy on Wednesday with some patchy rain and hill snow continuing in the northeast. Drier in the west with some brighter intervals, but feeling cold with the easterly breeze.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Remaining rather cloudy with patchy rain and hill snow developing at times. An increasing risk of some heavier rain in the far west by Friday. A cold easterly breeze continuing.
