Christmas is a time for indulgence of letting go of any fad diets and enjoying any food and drink that people can get their hands on.

While many supermarkets shelves have their festive food available to buy we thought we would try some of the best ones out there.

So, we decided to buy a showstopper from the top supermarkets across the UK, including: Tesco, Ocado, Waitrose, M&S, Asda, Amazon Fresh, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons to determine the results.

We have listed the price, the supermarket and our overall score out of 10.

There was a clear winner which scored a respectable and near perfect nine of out 10. Let’s take a look at the results in more detail.

M&S

Build your own Christmas Charcuter-Tree (799g)

Price: £25 from M&S in-store from Nov 27.

This is sure to be a party favourite and a centrepiece for the table. Pretty impressive for the amount of cheese someone gets to try and enjoy.

Overall score: 8/10

Tesco

Kingscote Sparkling 75Cl

Kingscote Estate is located in the heart of West Sussex. The Charmat Brut is a delightful sparkling wine made from estate grown Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and filled with zesty citrus and green fruit flavours with just a touch of nuttiness. Enjoy chilled as an aperitif or with light dishes.

Overall score: 7/10

Ocado

Asda

Asda Extra Special Belgian White Chocolate & Raspberry Roulade (454g)

A favourite product according to Asda online’s review with it being called “sweet” and “tangy”. A tad too much sugar but overall a pleasant taste.

Overall score: 6/10

Waitrose

12 British Treacle Pigs in Blankets (252g)

Price: £5.25 from Waitrose, available online or in-store from December 4.

The pigs in blankets are seasoned with treacle spices and wrapped in spiced streaky bacon. Waitrose certainly pulled out all the stops on this food.

Overall score: 9/10
