UK households have been issued a stark warning about storing bags of salad in their fridges following a significant product recall. McCormack Family Farms has pulled its Spinach and Mixed Leaves products from shelves due to contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.
The recall has now been expanded to encompass additional products and batches. The affected items include McCormack Family Farms Spinach / Baby Leaves in 500g packs, which covers all date codes. The recall also extends to McCormack Family Farms Spinach / Baby Leaves in 100g packs, with batch codes C199 JC200 JC202 JC203 JC205 JC207 and best before dates of 25/07/2025, 26/07/2025, 27/07/2025, 28/07/2025, 29/07/2025, 30/07/2025, 01/08/2025, and 03/08/2025.
McCormack Family Farms Spinach / Baby Leaves in 200g sizes are also implicated, with batch code JC199 JC200 JC202 JC203 JC205 JC206 JC207 and best before dates ranging from 25/07/2025 to 04/08/2025. The recall list further includes McCormack Family Farms Mixed Leaves in 75g packs, with batch codes JC199 JC202 JC204 JC205, as well as McCormack Family Farms Energise Super Mix in 100g packs, reports Birmingham Live.
Batch codes JC199 JC203 JC205 and best before dates of 28/07/2025, 29/07/2025, 30/07/2025, and 03/08/2025 are also flagged.
Finally, McCormack Family Farms Irish Spinach Leaves in 250g packs, with all date codes affected, McCormack Family Farms Rocket Leaves in 75g packs with batch codes JC204 JC206, and McCormack Family Farms Family Pack Lettuce in 200g packs are also included in the recall.
McCormack Family Farms has issued a recall for the products listed above. Retailers stocking these items will display point of sale notices to inform customers. The Food Standards Agency has issued an alert stating: “These notices explain to customers why the products are being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the products.”
Should you have purchased any of the aforementioned items, refrain from consuming them. The FSA advises returning them to the place of purchase to receive a full refund.
