Cleaning your house can certainly be a pain when you realise you don’t have the exact product you need, and what you do have could actually damage your property rather than clean it. This can often happen with DIY sprays and pastes that often rely on lemon juice or white vinegar for their cleaning powers. However, both of these are quite acidic and won’t be suitable for every surface.
With this in mind, former GBBO winner and cleaning extraordinaire Nancy Birtwhistle has shared an all-purpose spray that is truly what it says. It can clean your shower tiles, remove scuff from your walls and floors, and even clean your hob.
Sharing a video on her Instagram, Nancy pointed out that this spray only costs about 20p to make, making it a truly impressive spray.
Revealing just how to make this spray, Nancy continued: “Into a jug, I’m just adding washing soda, boiling water, eco-friendly washing-up liquid, and a few drops of essential oils. Now, we don’t want the citrus in there, so I use sandalwood, then give it a good mix.
“Or, if you want to, you can dissolve it all in a pan over the stove. Once it’s cooled, you can pop it into a bottle. Any sediment left in the bottom of the jug should not be poured into the spray bottle — I use mine to clean the sink instead.”
Nancy then showed how all-purpose this spray really is by cleaning various parts of her house, including removing scuffs from the floors and walls, which she simply wiped away.
As Nancy cleaned the floors and skirting boards in her dog room, she pointed out that removing any scuffs or dirt was “an absolute treat.”
Then the former GBBO winner headed outside and cleaned her outside hob and its burners before turning her attention to some bird poo on her front door, which was again easily wiped away with the spray without damaging the paintwork.
