A Florida wacko driven into a frenzy over a litter of cats’ dark fur buried them alive because they were “demonic” — but luckily cops were able to dig out a pair of the kitties.

The Mounty County sheriff said Alba Chavez, 37, was either suffering from mental health issues or “just didn’t like the cats” that she buried in her Hobe Sound yard Thursday before responding deputies heard meows from under the dirt.

Incredible footage showed the rescue with authorities uncovering two plastic shopping bags with the tiny and squirming kittens wrapped inside.

“Oh, they’re still alive,” one officer says.

Police were called to the home by children at the house who said they’d been hiding the cats from her because she was “killing them,” but that when they discovered them missing they knew something was wrong.

And when they arrived she reportedly fessed right up — claiming she’d killed and buried the cats because she thought they were demons, insisting she wouldn’t have brown or black cats in her house, PEOPLE magazine reported.

“If you want the cats, you will need gloves, a red bag and a shovel,” Chavez allegedly told officers.

The kittens were then recovered, with two found dead and a third missing.

Chavez was arrested and charged with felony counts of aggravated animal cruelty. She reportedly called the cats “very ugly” during questioning before she started singing and refused to answer detectives.

“She said they were demonic. She said they were ugly. She said she didn’t want those cats in her house,” Sheriff John Budensiek told reporters. “I don’t know whether it was a mental health issue or she just didn’t like the cats.”

The kittens — believed to be about 3 weeks old — were rushed to a veterinary hospital and have since been sent to a foster home for recovery.

“They were a little bit sluggish, a little slower, hadn’t quite completely figured out the whole walking thing and the eating thing, but now its a complete turnaround,” the woman fostering them told WPBF.

“These two are fighters for sure, and they are meant to be here, they have a purpose,” she added. “Whether it’s to heal some child’s heart or some family’s heart, or bring joy to them, they definitely have a purpose.”

The kittens will be available for adoption after about two months of further care.

“They are going to find their forever home, and its going to be somebody that loves them,” the foster said.

Chavez, meanwhile, remains behind bars Wednesday.
