Vodafone joins O2 and Sky with Black Friday mobile discounts

Vodafone has joined fellow mobile retailers Sky, O2, giffgaff and Samsung by launching it’s 2024 Black Friday sale. Weeks before the official November 29 date anyone looking to upgrade their device can do so for a lot less and we’ve picked out the best deals to go for.

Tech Commerce Content Editor Harriet Morphy-Morris has been looking at the best new deals to shop as they drop, along with advice from our in-house tech team, where expert David Snelling points out John Lewis’ Android deal that ‘beats Samsung’s Galaxy’ and Henry Burrell highlights the budget Google Pixel phone ‘he recommends to everyone’ that’s now much cheaper.

There’s plenty to choose and now more options for Vodafone shoppers as Samsung, Google, Apple, and Motorola mobiles plummet in price. You can shop the full Vodafone Black Friday sale, here, while we pick a Galaxy S24 Ultra deal that’s cheaper than Samsung’s own site as it’s reduced by £684.

The 512GB S24 Ultra device from Samsung works out cheaper than the upfront price at the Samsung store…before you add on data of course. Vodafone shoppers will pay £34 per month on a 36 month contract, which when added to the £60 upfront fee comes to £1,284…that’s £65 cheaper than the device-only cost at Samsung.

Another perk of provider contracts is the added-on data, airtime, text, and messages too as it combines it into one consice bill for shoppers. This is where the next big saving comes in as Vodafone cuts hundreds off its airtime plans for Black Friday.

When added to the S24 Ultra plan – that’s already £65 cheaper than Samsung for the device – shoppers can pay a reduced £10 per month for 50GB of data – this was originally £26 per month. The £16 monthly saving on the data plan is spread across the 24-month airtime contract -totalling another saving of £384.

So do round up the plan details – shoppers will pay a cheaper £34 per month on a 36-month contract for the S24 Ultra device with a £60 upfront fee. This comes to £1,284 in total. Then £10 per month for 50GB of monthly data on a 24-month contract (which of course you can extend to 36-months if you fancy) which totals £240 – £1,525 in total at the end of the plan.

Considering the price of the phone (with no data, airtime, or calls) starts at £1,349 on Samsung’s site and Amazon, it’s a recommended deal to pick for bonus savings on the device and the all-important connectivity.

If you’re reading this and already have a perfectly good mobile, but looking for some data then Vodafone’s Black Friday sale has launched a cheaper SIM only offer. Where all the plans are half price for six months.

However you’ll need to be quicker to bag this deal as it ends a day before Black Friday on November 28, and after month six the prices will return to the usual rate…and of course you’ll need to stick out the full 24-month airtime plan. Often seen as a downside to provider plans shoppers should note that Vodafone’s device plans are a hefty 36-months long, matching Sky’s plan length too.

Vodafone’s lengthy airtime contract (of two years) may not be suited to everyone so rival Black Friday offers from giffgaff and SMARTY offer flexible options – where you can pay-as-you-go. One that stands out is the 80GB of data for only £10 a month at SMARTY…and there’s no contract.
