The agency also believes the actions of the NATO defence alliance is ramping up military tensions along the perimeter of Russia’s borders.

Earlier this month, it was revealed Romania has started building what is set to become NATO’s most extensive military base in Europe, signaling a concerted effort to bolster its presence in the Black Sea region in response to heightened Russian activities.

The £2billion project aims to expand the Romanian Air Force 57th Air Base Mihail Kogălniceanu, which is located near the Black Sea port city of Constanța.

The new facility will span nearly 20 miles in perimeter, cover approximately 11 square miles, and accommodate around 10,000 NATO personnel alongside their families.
