A viral video clip of Meghan Markle appearing on a podcast and explaining how she “works so hard” has left fans questioning the Duchess of Sussex’s work ethic. Meghan sat down with the founder of IT Cosmetics, Jamie Kern Lima, to discuss her new business ventures and launching her brand ‘As Ever’.

During the interview, Meghan said: “Oh my gosh I work so hard and I appreciate what hard work looks like, I like working hard, and I’m still working hard, right? The moment everything sells out it doesn’t mean that we’re done.” She then goes on to quickly explain the type of work she conducts including “writing social media posts” and deciding “what to wear for shoots” and “editing time coded notes” for her new Netflix series of ‘With Love Meghan’.

Fans are left questioning if the type of work Meghan does is actually difficult. Under the viral video that has been watched over 160K times, one fan wrote: “Imagine being a doctor or nurse watching her say how hard her social media captions are.”

Another said: “She just described normal ONE day workload of all of us.”

One wrote: “I don’t think she has any idea how hard the working class work.”

Meghan first shared she had set up her own lifestyle brand in March 2024, with the name unveiled as American Riviera Orchard. But in February 2025, she announced she renamed her venture As Ever, and the brand launched in spring.

Fans snapped up the products within minutes and her range sold out in just under one hour. It was claimed, however, by critics the items had been made available in small quantities and then quickly marked as sold out in order to generate interest.

One industry insider told MailOnline: “Showing that there is a sell out is very common for new brands to fake demand. There is no warehouse full of jams.”

Renae Smith, founder and director of The Atticism told Express.co.uk “It looks like Meghan launched, sold out, and then ghosted the audience. That doesn’t build anticipation, it creates the sense that the brand doesn’t know what it wants to be…”

Despite the initial success, customers hoping to purchase items from the collection have been left disappointed, with none of the products being restocked on the brand’s website since the launch day.
