Video shows Sadiq Khan's hated ULEZ camera ripped down and covered in dog poo

A fresh wave of vandalism against ULEZ cameras has taken place in south east London as campaigners tear it down and cover it in dog poo.

A resident, under the username @domdance28 on TikTok, shared a video of the torn down camera that is blocking the pavement on Northdown Road in Welling.

The footage shows the camera – designed to catch motorists illegally driving in the Ultra Low Emission Zone – sprawled across the pavement with numerous dog poo bags stuffed inside the lens.

It comes after numerous reports of vandalism on the TfL cameras, after Sadiq Khan extended scheme to cover all London boroughs in 2023.

The number-plate recognition cameras have been met with opposition from those whose vehicles no longer meet the requirements, leading to charges of £12.50 a day.

The Mayor of London previously called the vandalism of ULEZ cameras “grotesquely irresponsible”.

Just last month, an anti-ULEZ group who named themselves the “blade runners” tore down four cameras overnight in south east London.

One in Chislehurst, in the borough of Bromley, was left damaged on the pavement. Officers are also investigating incidents in Baring Road, Marvels Lane, Bromley Road and Southend Lane.

The Met Police have been contacted for comment.
