The LAPD released a jarring video Tuesday morning of a hit-and-run in hopes of identifying the callous driver who sped away after fatally mowing down a 50-year-old man in a crosswalk.

“A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members that provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise,” the department wrote when it shared the video on YouTube.

“The driver of the vehicle failed to stop, identify themselves, and render aid as required by law,” the department added. “Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.”

In April 2015, the LA City Council created the Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund to incentivize reports from community members with a financial reward.

Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding this case or the suspect vehicle to contact investigators immediately.
