Dramatic footage appears to show the moment an Iranian TV station is struck during an Israeli bombing campaign in Tehran, while live on-air.
Despite efforts from Western powers, including United States President Donald Trump, to de-escalate the situation the two Middle Eastern nations continue to carry out air strikes on each other.
Now, on the fourth day of the conflict, Israel has again carried out bombings across Iran including its capital, Tehran, and the state’s broadcasting headquarters.
Footage posted to social media claims to show a news host addressing the camera before being interrupted by a crushing sound from a volley of rockets.
Debris is seen raining down over the host as she evacuates the studio and smoke billows in the background.
A G7 Summit, held in Canada, is due to begin on today with the nations expected to discuss signing a draft statement calling on Iran and Israel to de-escalate the conflict, according to officials.
It is not yet known whether or not President Trump will provide a signature to the document with the US seemingly deploying dozens of refuelling aircraft across the North Atlantic towards Europe.
The G7 statement is also understood to include notes stating Israel, who launched the first air strike against Iran, has a right to defend itself and that Iran can never have a nuclear weapons program.
European leaders, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer are understood to want a swift agreement on the matter.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson for Iran’s foreign ministry, Esmaeil Baqaei, has posted on social media calling for the United Nations’ Human Rights Office to condemn Israeli “aggression”.
“@UNHumanRights This is a blatant aggression. Full stop. The world needs your office to condemn it unequivocally – no ambiguity, no justification, no letting the aggressor hide behind ‘twisted concepts.’ Your mandate demands it,” Esmaeil Baqaei posted on X.
