Vicious fight breaks out at Aintree races as 'shameful' men 'throw punches and kicks'

A vicious brawl broke out at Aintree racecourse with fists flying as racegoers apparently punched and kicked each other in front of shocked witnesses.

The fight is reported to have erupted on Becher Chase day at the home of the Grand National in Sefton, Merseyside.

Footage viewed more than a million times after it was posted on social media shows two men apparently laying into each other as racegoers can be heard in the background shouting and screaming.

A man appears to step in to break up the scrap but he then gets walloped by one of the two men who starts lashing out at the guy.

Two others then get involved as the bystander who initially stepped in pushes the lad through doors onto a stairwell.

More men start piling into each other, with one lad kicking another man as he stumbles while trying to get up from the floor.

All hell then breaks loose as four or five other guys start on each other, while some try to break up the scuffling.

Meanwhile, in the stairwell a man can be seen holding down another as a third lands punches to his body.

The sickening scenes of violence were condemned by social media users, one of whom wrote: “Good day’s racing yesterday at Aintree but sad to see yet more violence on racecourses.”

Another described the whole incident as “shameful” with a third writing: “There’s nothing more cringe than seeing grown men fighting.”

Aintree Racecourse and Merseyside Police have been approached for comment.
