‘Vet’s note after cat’s death left me in tears’

There’s nothing quite like the anguish of losing a beloved pet, as it’s always utterly devastating when a cherished animal passes away, with support available to help with the grief. However, one pet owner recently experienced the surprise of their life when they received a heartfelt message from their veterinary practice after the tragic loss of their cat.

The pet owner confessed they “laughed and cried” upon reading the message, which has since been posted on Reddit. The card, which was penned by hand, was so touching that it has since moved the hearts of countless animal enthusiasts worldwide, sparking widespread discussion.

Accompanying a photograph of the message, the social media user explained: “My boy Vinny crossed the rainbow bridge recently. He was a spicy boy, only would let me hold him and pick him up.

“This was the sympathy card I received from the vet. I sent them a cheesecake. Please enjoy these photos of my handsome son.”

A photograph, which displayed the message, also stated: “I am so sorry for your loss of Vincent. Even though he didn’t like us, he will be missed. Thinking of you.”

Since the correspondence was posted, hundreds of individuals have responded to the submission. It’s evidently struck a chord with numerous devoted pet owners.

One individual commented, stating: “Oof, now I’m sobbing. I, too, have a spicy boy who has a soft spot for his mummy. I’m so sorry about your Vinny, but I’m so glad that his grumpy self spent his life being so unbelievably loved.”

Another person chimed in with: “I’m laughing and crying dang it. That’s so sweet, and he’s a very handsome boy. May his memories be a comfort.”

A third individual responded: “Your reaction to the card and kind gesture in return tells me that you gave your boy an amazing life. Love and sympathy from a fellow owner of a spicy former-feral void.”

Meanwhile, a fourth person remarked: “Clinic employees really do care about their clients. I’m sorry for your loss, please take time to remember all the good memories too. From the husband of a vet clinic employee.”

Another user also added: “He was beautiful. I shed a tear. Can’t imagine the sorrow you must be feeling right now. May he rest in peace.

“I am so sorry for your loss. I can tell how much he was loved just from the pictures you shared. He will be in your heart always.”

While the pet owner was moved, they also confessed they couldn’t help but chuckle at the note due to the cat’s unique personality. It was clear Vincent was very selective about his company.

They further added: “I could not stop laughing. Everyone else wrote ‘sorry for your loss’, ‘he will be missed’ etc, and then in the biggest hand writing ‘HE DIDN’T LIKE US’. Gold. She knew what she was doing.”
