Gio Reyna could be on the move.

The U.S. men’s national team midfielder and former New York City FC academy product is in talks over a possible move from Bundesliga club Borussia Monchengladbach to Ligue 1 side Strasbourg, The Athletic reported on Wednesday.

Should Reyna move, it would be his fourth club in four seasons and come after spending just one season with Borussia Monchengladbach.

Reyna appeared in 19 league matches for the German club and had one goal, but was never able to fully establish himself. He played just over 500 minutes in Bundesliga during the 2025-26 season.

Despite Reyna not seeing much action during the club season, he was selected by Mauricio Pochettino for the U.S. World Cup roster and played in all five of the USMNT’s matches during the tournament co-hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada.

Reyna, the son of USMNT great Claudio Reyna, scored in the United States’ 4-1 win over Paraguay and saw 131 minutes of action during the World Cup.

Strasbourg plays in France’s top flight and finished eighth in Ligue 1 during the 2025-26 season.

The club is owned by consortium BlueCo, which is led by American businessman Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, and also owns Premier League powerhouse Chelsea.

Reyna started his career with NYCFC’s academy in 2015 and remained with the program until 2019, when he made the jump to join Borussia Dortmund’s academy program.

Reyna was a highly touted prospect in the pipeline for American soccer, but injuries have hampered him during his career.

The 23-year-old had also been embroiled in a controversy during the 2022 World Cup when then-USMNT head coach Gregg Berhalter almost sent Reyna home over disciplinary issues.

That rolled into an even more bizarre incident that involved Reyna’s parents and Berhalter following the World Cup four years ago.
