Team USA forward Kendall Coyne Schofield — and her son — are taking it all in.

Coyne Schofield, 33, shared a heartwarming moment on the ice with her son after taking home the gold medal following their 2-1 win over Canada on Thursday in the Olympics.

She posted a picture on social media with her young son, Drew, wearing the medal around his neck.

“Gold medal moment,” Coyne Schofield wrote on X. “Dreams do come true!”

Team USA won the final game in epic fashion with an overtime goal from Megan Keller, marking the squad’s first gold medal in the Winter Games since 2018.

Following the game, Coyne Schofield, who has been on the past four U.S. Olympic teams, said this championship is extra special for her, with it being her first appearance since the birth of her son in 2023.

“It’s special,” Coyne Schofield told NBC of the gold. “It’s been a journey to say the least. To get back to this point after giving birth two-and-a-half years ago, I’m just so happy for this group. It’s a special group.

“I’ve been a part of a lot of teams with USA hockey over the years, and there’s something really really special about this one, and never doubted that this was the outcome.”

The Americans got off to a cold start on Thursday, finding themselves down 1-0 late in the third period until Hilary Knight tied the game with two minutes left, sending the game to overtime.

Coyne Schofield said that the team addressed their rough first period during intermission and likened some of it to elevated nerves for the championship game.

“I think that addressing that our first period was not our best period and we had a lot more to give,” she added. “I think the nerves were a little bit high in that first period, rightfully so, and I think we started to settle into the game.

“We started to get back into our game, and once we did that, the ice started to tilt a little bit.”
