US mobile networks crash for millions nationwide with Apple iPhones jammed in SOS mode


Mobile customers across the United States are grappling with significant disruptions to their mobile phone service as multiple providers experience outages, leaving many with Apple iPhones stuck in SOS mode.

According to Downdetector, a website that tracks internet and cellular service outages, major carriers including AT&T, Cricket Wireless, FirstNet, Verizon, T-Mobile, US Cellular, Boost Mobile, Consumer Cellular, and Straight Talk are all currently experiencing issues. 

Numerous reports indicate that AT&T customers are particularly affected, with some users reporting that their iPhones are stuck in ‘SOS’ mode—a feature activated when phones lose cellular connection, allowing users to make emergency calls or texts only.
