Shoppers have been urged “not to eat” certain meats that should be returned to the stores.

Sainsbury’s recalled Taste the Difference Spanish Chorizo Iberico Ring as the meat product could be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
Packages affected include all those that have use-by dates up to January 16, 2024.
Sainsbury’s said: “Listeria monocytogenes has been found in some of the products.
“Symptoms caused by this organism can be similar to flu and include high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick and diarrhoea.”
The supermarket noted: “In rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications, such as meningitis. Some people are more vulnerable to listeria infections, including those over 65 years of age.”
Additional vulnerable groups include:
- Pregnant women and their unborn babies
- Babies less than one month old
- People who have weakened immune systems.
Sainsbury’s advised its customers to “not eat” Taste the Difference Spanish Chorizo Iberico Ring.
Instead, the meat product should be returned to the store where it was bought for a full refund.
This is an “important safety warning” that all Sainsbury’s customers should take note of.
“Sainsbury’s would like to apologise for any inconvenience this may cause,” the supermarket added.
Lidl
Lidl has also issued two alerts for meat products: the Braemoor Duck Breast Fillet and XXL Ocean Sea Cooked and Peeled Large Prawns.
The Braemoor Two Duck Breast Fillets with Plum, Soy and Ginger Sauce Sachet and Braemoor Two Duck Breast Fillets might contain salmonella.
The best-before date is August 21, 2024, and the product needs to be returned to store.
The XXL Ocean Sea Cooked and Peeled Large Prawns could contain sulphites which means it’s a “possible health risk” to those who have a sensitivity to sulphites.
The best-before date on the 1kg packaging is January 2025, and anyone with this item should return the product to Lidl for a refund.
