‘Unsung’ UK town that’s one of the prettiest places to live | UK | Travel

Deal, a picturesque coastal town in Kent, has been hailed as one of Britain’s most fashionable places to live, securing an outstanding third position in a recent survey. The historic settlement was praised by Furniture Box as one of Kent’s “most stylish” treasures and was recognised as a leading UK location for those seeking a stunning place to stay.

The company praised Deal’s stunning architecture, magnificent landscapes, social media-perfect locations, and its popularity amongst creatives and film producers. Furniture Box explained: “‘Style’ is about aesthetics, or how things look and feel; a pleasing appearance creating a sense of effortless harmony. Stylish places are the places people want to visit or to live. Filmmakers, artists, tourists and residents want to share these places because they just look so good.”

Nevertheless, the organisation recognised that style remains subjective, noting: “But, as we learnt last year, ‘style’ is a point of personal taste. So, we created a poll to ask the people of the UK to vote for the most stylish places.”

When it comes to food, Deal stands as a jewel in Kent’s landscape, featuring a wealth of restaurants to satisfy every taste, reports Kent Live.

For visitors craving an exceptional meal, Deal boasts its very own Michelin-recommended establishment: Frog and Scot.

This “lively French bistro” has received widespread praise for its petite dishes and bar nibbles presented in a “fun and relaxed environment”.

Situated in Deal’s conservation district, mere moments from the shoreline, Frog and Scot provides a modern cocktail bar, a welcoming heated patio, and an elegant drinking area complementing its bistro seating.

Additional notable venues in Deal feature the Goose On The Green Cafe, which excels on TripAdvisor amongst Kent’s best 20 dining spots, maintaining an impeccable five-star score across more than 500 customer reviews.

Little Harriettes of Deal Tea Rooms has received recognition for its scrumptious house-made confections, whilst Victuals and Co gains praise for its casual yet contemporary cuisine, securing a TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Award.

Those on the lookout for drinks can visit Deal’s favoured establishments including Queen Street Tap, The Plough And Harrow Tilmanstone, and The Ship Inn.

And a day at the beach is a must. The main attraction of Deal, particularly during the warm months, is without a doubt its stunning seaside.

This vast shingle beach is perfect for leisurely strolls or seaside picnics. Deal Pier, a relic from the 1950s, is globally recognised as a prime spot for angling. It also features a glass-walled cafe, providing some of the most breathtaking views whilst you tuck into your lunch.

And speaking of lunch, no trip to the beach is complete without a stop at a fish and chip shop. Sea View, situated just a stone’s throw from the seafront at the junction of Beach Street and King Street, fits the bill perfectly.

The beach is backed by the charming and historic town centre, offering easy access to a host of handy amenities. The beach is also easily reachable, with plenty of parking available at Beach Street Car Park for £3.60 for two hours.

Rightmove reports that properties in the town sold for an average price of £367,033 over the past year, significantly lower than the wider Kent average of £441,764 during the same period.

With London just an hour away, Deal is an ideal location for commuters. It also provides easy access to major roads like the A2 and A256.

Popular coastal destinations such as Dover and those on the Isle of Thanet are easily accessible by car or public transport.

The town is well-equipped for families, with five nurseries, four primary schools and two secondary schools. Warden House Primary School currently holds an ‘outstanding’ rating from Ofsted, while Brewood Secondary School has been rated as ‘good’.
