Following his 2022 move biopic Elvis, Baz Luhrmann has been hard at work on his next film about the King of Rock and Roll.
Warner Bros has given the filmmaker unprecedented access to a ton of unused footage from classic Elvis Presley documentaries.
These include the 1970 Las Vegas residency concert movie Elvis: That’s The Way It Is and 1972 concert road film, Elvis on Tour.
The filmmaker unearthed the unseen negatives when Warner Bros allowed him to dive into their underground salt mine vaults in Kansas while he was researching his biopic.
Also among the treasure trove was rare behind-the-scenes audio that had been feared lost, including recordings of Elvis telling stories about his life.
And today, the director has announced the premiere date of the unprecedented project.
Posting on Instagram the movie’s poster, the filmmaker wrote: “A new film from Baz Luhrmann, who is following up his hit Elvis with the doc EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert” a mixture of concert performances, behind-the-scenes footage and Elvis’ reflections. By the sounds of it, EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert, could be in UK cinemas by the end of the year if not early 2026.
