Terrifying footage has captured the moment the wheel fell off a United Airlines flight bound for Japan during takeoff from San Francisco.

United Airlines Flight UA35 – a Boeing 777-222 aircraft – landed at LAX Airport in California after the tire fell off the plane and smashed into cars below.

Videos have been circulating on X of the terrifying incident. One user posted shocking footage of a car crumpled under the weight of the plane tire after it fell from the sky.

The back of the vehicle has been completely crushed. The woman filming the video can be heard saying: “There’s so many police here now it’s crazy.

“So these two cars and they found some of the landing gear over there. They think it was the United 777.”

The video already has tens of thousands of views, and comes amid increasing complaints of faults on Boeing jets.

Earlier today, reports surfaced of an Alaska Airlines flight – a Boeing 737-800 – being forced to return to Portland while on its way to Phoenix after fumes were detected in the cabin.

The crew declared an emergency after passengers in the rear of the plane reported smelling “some fumes or an odor”. Seven individuals, including passengers and crew members, requested medical evaluations as a precautionary measure.

Last month, a plane’s wing was seen “coming apart” in footage captured by a passenger on a United Airlines flight. The plane was forced into an emergency landing after the Boeing 757-200’s wing started to break apart.

All of these incidents came after a report revealed key bolts were missing from the door of a Boeing plane before it blew out in mid-air in January. The Federal Aviation Administration since barred Boeing from speeding up production of 737s until the agency is satisfied about quality issues.
