The cheapest and most expensive regions for a pint have been revealed, and there’s a clear frontrunner for the cheapest beer. All but one region kept average prices below the £5 mark, according to data shared with Sky by consultancy CGA, but in that outlier, prices were nearly £1 higher than in most other parts of the UK.

As expected, London was the most expensive on average at £5.44 for a pint, and it flew 84p above the average price of £4.60 across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. The south east, which is quickly becoming popular for weekend breaks to the likes of Margate, came in as the second most expensive with prices creeping towards the £5 mark at £4.94.

Meanwhile the south west, a region loved for its coastal escapes such as Cornwall and Devon, came in just above average at £4.63.

Prices then started to drop below the median, with East England coming in at £4.56, which includes regions such as Norfolk and Suffolk.

Pints for £4.42 were seen across six regions in Scotland, the East and West Midlands, Yorkshire and the Humber, Northern Ireland, and the North West.

The North East came in close second at £4.28, which was just 7p more on average than the most inexpensive area.

Wales had the lowest-priced pints in the UK according to the survey with prices averaging at £4.21, which was an impressive £1.23 less than the dearest in London.
