A Russian strike in a city centre has deliberately targeted rescue workers, according to Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky. Ukraine’s leader said: ” Last night, the Russian army struck the centre of Dobropillya in the Donetsk region with two ballistic missiles. After our emergency services arrived at the scene, they launched another strike, deliberately targeting the rescuers. This is a vile and inhumane intimidation tactic often used by the Russians.”
The strikes, which occurred overnight on March 8, killed at least 23 people and appeared to fly in the face of Donald Trump’s earlier warning that he strongly considering large-scale sanctions and tariffs on Russia. He said Friday: “They [Russia] are bombing the hell out of them [Ukraine] right now… and I put a statement out, a very strong statement ‘can’t do that, can’t do that’.”
