Four UK counties will see temperatures of 18C next week, with a potential Indian Summer and slightly hotter weather on the way. The latest weather maps from WXCharts has forecast temperatures in the high teens for parts of the UK next Saturday (October 25).

It will reach 18C in Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, and Essex, with 17C experienced in Kent, London, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Lincolnshire. The rest of England will sit between 11C and 16C. Wales will be between 11C and 13C. Northern Ireland will be between 5C and 7C. Scotland will be between 3C and 7C. The average temperature in October is 13C in London, and 10C in Edinburgh.

The Met Office said of the period: “A rather unsettled pattern is likely through much of this period, as low-pressure systems originating over the North Atlantic trundle east or northeastwards across the UK.

“These will bring showers or longer spells of rain, perhaps accompanied by some strong winds at times, but also interspersed with some drier and brighter interludes, albeit these generally of shorter duration than the recent settled spell.

“Later in the period, there may be a transition to a slightly cooler and more showery northwesterly regime, as high pressure builds over the Atlantic to the west, and low pressure becomes centred to the east of the UK. Temperatures are likely to be near or slightly above average overall, although may trend slightly below normal later.”

From the end of October, it is likely to be changeable, with a showery northwesterly regime most favoured across the UK. Into November, an unsettled pattern is anticipated, as low-pressure systems over the Atlantic track across the UK.

These may be shifted farther south than normal, bringing showers or longer spells of rain fairly widely, perhaps also accompanied by some strong winds at times. Temperatures will probably be close to or slightly above average overall.

Thursday: Cloudy with some outbreaks of drizzle here and there, more especially across the south and east.

An increasing chance of showers across northeast Scotland. Some brighter spells developing in places.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday: Staying cloudy for many Friday and Saturday but some drizzly showers likely at times, but some brighter spells too.

Becoming changeable from Sunday with wind and rain arriving.
