The 30C Mediterranean heatwaves that have engulfed the UK in recent months will soon be drastically halted by a period of cooler weather, according to one forecast. Brits may need to grab their warmer jumpers back out of storage in August as weathermaps from WXCharts, produced by Metdesk, show temperatures dropping to a cool 10C across parts of the nation.

After spikes of 38C in parts of the UK, swathes of green take over Britain, replacing the volcanic red which we have recently seen. On August 3, the morning will be cooler, with temperatures plunging down to nearly single digits. From Edinburgh to Inverness, the majority of Scotland will be subject to 10C at 6am.

Aberdeen and Wick can expect 11C figures, the same as northern England. Yorkshire will be the coldest county, also plummeting down to 10C. In Wales, temperatures will also fall to 10C, with the highest figure reaching 11C on August 3.

Across the Midlands, digits hover at around 11-12C, with the south east seeing similar conditions on the same day.

In the southwest, Cornwall will reach a high of 13C at 6 a.m., making it one of the warmer counties that morning.

Northern Ireland can also expect a chillier start to that day, as temperatures fall to 10-11C.

According to weather forecaster the Met Office’s long range forecaster, conditions at the start of August will slightly unsettled, as spells of rain or showers are expected.

“The rather changeable pattern will likely continue through into the start of August with spells of rain or showers mixed in with some drier, brighter days,” it says.

“However there are signs that high pressure may become rather more dominant, which could bring more in the way dry, settled weather more widely as we progress further into the month. Temperatures will likely continue to be above average overall, with the possibility of very warm or hot spells developing period, especially further south and east.”
