The UK is bracing itself to be covered by a blanket of snow as the country prepares itself for a vicious snow blitz in the latest big freeze.

Brutal UK WXCHARTS weather maps have turned a variety of colours from purple towhite suggesting that the UK will receive a dumping of the white stuff.

On Saturday, December 14, and Sunday, December 15, many areas across the UK will see snow fall with up to 3cm per hour predicted to fall in some places.

Weather maps indicate that key cities include Glasgow and Edinburgh will be covered by a blanket of snow with up to 3cm per hour forecast in both areas.

The Highlands look likely to miss out on snow but Stirling, Dumfries and Tayside all look set to see a maximum of 2cm of snow per hour.

Elsewhere England will see a 322 wall of snow smash the country with snow predicted to smash the country from Yorkshire all the way down to Devon.

On December 14 at 6pm weather maps turned a deep purple, suggesting that heavy snow is likely to fall with 2-2.5cm of snow to fall per hour.

The Cotswolds and Devon will see slightly less snow fall on Saturday with 0.6-1 cm predicted.

Also on December 14,weather maps suggest that West Wales will be covered in snow with Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion to receive a hammering.

As we go into Sunday, December 15, the rest of Wales will be submerged in snow with both the capital Cardiff and Swansea looking set to be covered by the white stuff.

Major cities including Newcastle, Manchester and Birmingham will all receive a hammering of snow.

London looks set to be one of the only places in the UK who will not catch a glimpse of the highly anticipated snow.

In the Met Office’s weather outlook for Monday, December 9, to Wednesday, December 18, the forecaster is warning that “high pressure” will dominate the weather, “bringing plenty of dry but rather cold weather, though a showery easterly or northeasterly flow may affect the south”.
