A weather map shows the huge downpour that will cover England this weekend as rain sweeps in from the Atlantic. This coming weekend – Saturday and Sunday June 7 and 8 – is set to be a wet one, with downpours sweeping over the UK. This comes after a weekend of relatively hot and sunny weather, marking a stark change as we move further into the summer season. Brits hoping to enjoy some outdoor weekend activities may want to come up with a backup plan as rain is set to hit the vast majority of Britain.

A map from WXCharts shows the huge downpour set to cover England and much of the rest of the UK this coming weekend, with Saturday morning seeing the wettest conditions for most. A forecast map from WX Charts shows the rain sweeping in from the Atlantic over Ireland before it reaches Britain in the early hours of Saturday morning. The huge downpour can be seen covering all of England, stretching around 400 miles from northern cities like Newcastle all the way down to the southcoast to counties such as Devon, Dorset and Hampshire.

The map shows some rain arriving at around 3am on Saturday, June 7. By the time it reaches 6am, the whole of England is virtually covered, seemingly disappearing under the blue deluge.

Around 9am sees even wetter conditions with some areas of the country experiencing rain depths of more than 2mm per hour, particularly in the southeastern region of the country.

Wet conditions continue into the afternoon, the map shows, with the weather clearing up for most of the country in the evening.

By Sunday, there are still some wet areas while Monday sees rain returning for much of the country.

The Met Office says that from June 7 onwards, much of the country will experience “unsettled weather”. Its forecast reads: “At first, wet weather may be focussed across the south of the UK but it looks like this focus will fairly quickly shift northwards during the first few days.

“Towards the middle of June, there is an increased chance that high pressure will become more dominant, at least in the south. This would result in some longer periods of drier weather, although unsettled spells remain likely.

“Following a rather cool start to this period, there is a greater chance of warmer spells towards mid-June.”

Meanwhile, the latter part of the month may see longer dry spells but weather could still be changeable.
