Weather maps are turning dark red for six days in August as a 30C scorcher sweeps across the UK. WXCharts has so far forecast temperatures between 30C and 34C for 23 counties throughout the month.

After a period of cloudy weather, hot temperatures are finally set to come back. Weather maps have show that several counties could expect 30C + temperatures as early as next week.

Counties hit by the high temperatures between August 11 and 14 are: Hampshire, Berkshire, Surrey, West Sussex, London, Kent, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire, Somerset, Wiltshire, Essex, Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Leicestershire, Norfolk and Suffolk.

The Met Office said of this period: “The rather changeable pattern of preceding days will likely still be in place across northwestern areas of the UK at first. Further southeast, predominantly fine, with a spell of hot weather looking increasingly likely at the start of this period.

“Much of England could see high temperatures for at least a couple of days and there is a possibility that the heat could last further into the week, especially in the south, where there is also the possibility of some thunderstorms.”

Counties hit by the high temperatures on August 21 and 22 are: Hampshire, Berkshire, Surrey, West Sussex, London, Kent, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire, Somerset, Wiltshire, Essex, Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Leicestershire, Norfolk and Suffolk.

The Met Office said of this period: “Beyond this, probably a resumption of widely somewhat cooler, fresher conditions, with a lot of dry weather to be had in the south under the influence of high pressure. Meanwhile a rather more changeable and breezier theme will continue further to the north.”

Today: Most of the UK will be dry, with plenty of sunny spells and easing winds. It will remain windy across northern Scotland with coastal gales, and further rain or showers here. Feeling pleasantly warm in the sunshine.

Tonight: A band or locally heavy rain drifts south across Scotland with strong winds. Elsewhere, it will be mostly dry with clear spells and lighter winds, some patchy fog is possible.

Saturday: Remaining rather windy across Scotland with showers. A little rain at first across northern England. Otherwise, dry with plenty of warm sunny spells and generally light winds.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday: Changeable in the north, with occasional spells of rain or showers and often quite windy. Mostly dry in the south, with sunny spells. Temperatures increasing, turning hot in the southeast.
