Temperatures are set to rise significantly in early August with parts of the country set to bask in temperatures in excess of 30C for four days. After a cooler start to August which will see some parts of the country donning their coats for the first time in months, parts of the UK will see the mercury rise significantly.

Parts of the Midlands, London and South West will be among those sizzling under a blazing sun between August 7-8. Scotland and parts of northern England will remain relatively mild with highs 18C while southern regions swelter, according to weather maps by WXCharts.com A long-range forecast for July 30 to August 8 reported: “During early August, high pressure may start to have greater influence as it builds northeast across the country.

“This bringing more prolonged settled spells to many areas. Breeziest conditions across the north of the country.

“Temperatures generally near average though with some warmer spells likely.”

The 24-hour heat blast is likely to be the start of a return to sweltering temperatures, as was seen for much of July, when heatwave warnings were issued in several areas of the country.

From early evening on August 7, temperatures will rise sharply, with Luton, London and Southampton all expected to see thermometers hit 30C.

The East coast from East Anglia all the way south will also see temperatures in the high twenties as will the South Coast and parts of Devon and Dorset, ensuring a warm, uncomfortable night for many.

Throughout the following day, the heat will spread as far north as the Midlands with areas of South Wales such as Cardiff likely to see highs of 31C.

Temperatures will peak in Weymouth where WXCharts.com expects the seaside town to bathe in 32C sun.

The warm weather will continue into the weekend with August 9-10 maintaining temperatures in excess of 30C for large parts of southern England from Suffolk in the east to Cornwall in the west.

A Met Office long-range forecast for August 9 to August 20 predicts: “While westerly winds will bring changeable conditions at times, some settled spells are likely to develop during August.

“These bringing more prolonged dry and sunny weather, especially across the south of the country but potentially spreading to all areas at times.

“Temperatures will likely be near or above average overall. There is a chance of some very warm or hot spells, especially in the south and east.”
