UK weather maps show the exact date temperatures in Britain will drop to 0C as the country is to be battered by a Polar ice bomb.

WXCharts has predicted freezing weather to hit the UK in a fortnight (November 16), bringing with it low temperatures and some rain.

On that day, temperatures will drop as low as 0C in central Scotland (Glencoe, Glasgow) and north Wales (Conwy, Anglesey), the maps show. It will be between 1C and 2C in the rest of Scotland and Wales.

The south of England (Plymouth, Canterbury) will sit between 3C and 4C. The north of England (Newcastle, Carlisle, Manchester, Sheffield) will be slightly less cool, seeing lows of between 4C and 7C.

The warmest area of the UK will be in the Midlands (Norwich, Birmingham) and Northern Ireland (Belfast, Derry) which will see lows of 6C and 8C.

WXCharts has also predicted some rain sweeping in from the southwest on November 16, moving northeast across the UK, with the heaviest downpours on the south coast of England and over central Scotland.

The Met Office’s long-range forecast acknowledges a more “unsettled” weather may be on its way.

The weather agency says of the period: “After a relatively settled start to November, around mid-month there will probably be a change toward more unsettled conditions for a time.

“This means an increased chance of periods of wet and windy weather for parts of the UK, perhaps more so in the south.”

The British weather agency added there is “low confidence” at the moment over which type of weather conditions will dominate by the end of the month.

It added: “Temperatures will probably be close to average overall, although some colder interludes are possible.”
