More than 10 counties are facing hot temperatures in a fortnight, when the UK will be hit by a heatwave with highs of 39C. WXCharts has forecast temperatures to reach up to 33C on June 28, but they will get to 31C on June 27.
The Met Office has said that there will be “a good deal of dry weather” at first, but it will become more changeable with an “increasing likelihood of showers” or some longer spells of rain, which could be heavy and thundery at times.
Temperatures are “likely to be above average” during this time. For early June, highs are normally just under 20C, but much of the west coast will be over 30C this year. The rest of the country will remain between 20C and 29C, being coldest in east Scotland.
