UK weather: Major warning as chart shows monster Storm Isha about to unleash 80mph gales

New weather maps have shown that a monster storm will hit the UK tomorrow, unleashing 80mph gusts on the country.

Storm Isha will bring strong winds and heavy rain, with Met Office weather warnings covering the entire country on Sunday and Monday while new alerts have been issued from Tuesday until Wednesday.

WXCharts has forecast winds of up to 100mph whipping from west to east, appearing to be at its strongest in England and Wales. There will also be high waves along the coast.

There will be heavy rain across the UK, moving in from the west. It will be heaviest in Scotland, according to the latest maps compiled by WX Charts, using data from the Metdesk.

Temperatures will drop as low as -1C in north Scotland, 2C in south Scotland and north England, 3C in Northern Ireland and the Midlands, and 5C in Wales and south England.

Predicting the five-day weather forecast for the UK, a spokesperson foe the Met Office said: “Today, patchy rain will turn more persistent in the west. The east of England and Scotland will stay dry and mild with any lying snow continuing to melt.

“Winds will strengthen into the evening with severe gales possible on the west coast. There will also be heavy rain in the west, with the east remaining dry.

“Sunday will be largely dry but windy with gusts strengthening as Storm Isha arrives from the west, bringing widespread rain and severe gales.

“Monday will see sunny spells and heavy blustery showers with further wet and windy weather expected on Tuesday. It will be largely dry on Wednesday with winds easing.”

Wednesday, January 24 until Friday, February 2

It will remain very unsettled through the second half of next week, with further spells of rain and strong winds for most regions, although perhaps not as severe as earlier in the week.

The heaviest and most frequent spells of rain and showers are likely to be in the west, with eastern areas often drier and brighter.

By next weekend, high pressure is likely to become more dominant, especially across the south bringing mostly dry and bright conditions here with an increase in the likelihood of overnight fog patches.

Further north, rain and strong winds are likely at times, but there should also be some drier interludes. Generally mild, although there is an increased chance of night frost as conditions become more settled in the south.

Saturday, February 3 until Saturday, February 17

Into early February there is an increased likelihood of high pressure having greater influence on UK weather patterns. There is uncertainty in exactly where high pressure will become established but this increases the likelihood of drier conditions.

There is also a greater than normal likelihood of winds from the east leading to an increased chance, compared to normal, of cold spells. Whilst a drier and colder scenario is most likely during early February, there remains a chance of some milder interludes with spells of rain and strong winds, especially across the north.
