UK weather: Exact date entire country will be covered by a massive rainstorm

Britain will be hit by a massive rainstorm in the coming days as the latest maps reveal the exact date that the entire country will be covered in stromy and wet conditions from top to bottom. Maps from WXCharts have turned blue indicating the possibility of rainfall across the country as the temperature levels plummet to 0C.

The maps for March 26 show that a rainstorm will hit the UK at around midnight bringing in heavy downpours for the 10 hours that follow. By afternoon, the storm will start fading away with only southern parts of the country witnessing some mild rainfall.

WXCharts maps compiled by the Met desk suggest that areas from Wick to Plymouth will be battered with heavy rainfall.

In Scotland, areas such as Inverness and Aberdeen seem to be worst impacted with a possibility of 38-42 mm of rainfall during that period.

Moving slightly further southwards, the most affected cities include Edinburgh, Newcastle, and Manchester as they could see 15-20mm of rainfall, maps suggest.

According to the Met Office long-range forecast, most of the UK will see rain throughout March, however, we will see “generally mild conditions”.

The Met Office’s long-range forecast between March 19 and 28 suggests: “A continuation of the changeable but generally mild conditions looks likely but with a tendency for any rain to be heaviest in western, especially northwestern areas while parts of the south and southeast are likely to see longer, drier interludes.

“Winds generally light to moderate in the south and east, with stronger winds affecting north-western areas at times, although at this time nothing exceptional is expected. Into the latter part of next week and beyond we see a trend for temperatures to fall back closer to average across the UK.

“There is a small chance of more notable colder conditions developing, most probable across the north of the UK, but at this stage any confidence this possibility looks to be a low risk.”

Today:

A rather unsettled day. Heavy showers across much England and Wales. Cloud and rain across Scotland and Northern Ireland slowly clearing to sunny spells and scattered showers. Showers wintry over Scottish mountains. Feeling warm in any sunshine in the southeast.

Tonight:

Showers easing from the west through the evening, with clear spells developing for many overnight. With light winds some fog patches are likely to form, as well as a frost.

Saturday:

A chilly and bright start, especially in the north and east. However, cloud and rain will quickly move into western areas. This then moving north and eastwards through the day.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Sunshine and showers Sunday. Overnight rain clearing to a mainly dry day on Monday. Further rain returning through Tuesday, with brisk winds in the northwest. Feeling warm in the sunshine.
