A popular pasta ready meal has been recalled as Brits have been urged to return the item for a full refund. Waitrose has issued a product recall for its own-brand Creamy Pesto Chicken Pasta after it discovered that its packaging failed to disclose a key allergen. The major supermarket chain is now asking shoppers to not consume the item and to return the product to your local branch for a refund.
The popular item has failed to disclose the presence of mustard, which poses a “possible health risk” to those who have already purchased the ready meal and have an allergy to mustard, according to the Food Standards Agency. The authority has also clarified that the warning is specific to Scotland and Wales only.
Waitrose has since actioned the labelling error by issuing a point-of-sale notice to its customers. This explains to customers why the product is being recalled and tells them what to do if they have bought the product.
In this case, customers of the Creamy Pesto Chicken Pasta have been asked to not consume the item, package the item up and to return it.

Those with an allergy to mustard can experience a range of systems. According to medics at the Cleveland Clinic, the body’s immune system would incorrectly view the proteins in mustard as a threat, deploying antibodies.
As a result, those allergic to the item will go into a heightened state and potentially develop rashes or breathing problems.
Symptoms of a mustard allergy include abdominal pain, diarrhoea, dizziness, hives, nausea and vomiting, swelling of the lips, tongue or face, throat inflammation and wheezing or shortness of breath.
Earlier this month, the Food Standards Agency also issued alerts for Co-op which recalled own-brand 4 Mini Pork and Pickle Pies because of undeclared milk and Lidl’s Red Hen 4 tempura Chicken Steaks due to milk not being emphasised on the label.
