Shocking new weather maps have revealed the UK should brace for a 24-hour battering of rain stretching 600 miles all the way from Cornwall to Scotland.
According to the latest maps from WXCHARTS, which uses Met Desk date, heavy rain is forecast to sweep the country on November 8 and last 24 hours.
The worst-affected area will be the county of Carmarthenshire in south-west Wales, which will see up to 5mm of rainfall per hour.
In England, those in Plymouth and Lancashire should expect rainfall of between 3mm and 4mm per hour.
There will be rain as far south as Land’s End and as far north as John O’Groats in Scotland – a straight-line distance of 603 miles.
A separate weather map from Netweather shows a vicious jetstream swirling over the Atlantic and crashing into the UK on November 7 – suggesting the possibility of a storm.
The Met Office long-range weather forecast for November 7-21 warns of rain bringing a “wetter than average” period and “colder interludes”.
It says: “A change in the broad weather pattern over the UK is expected towards mid-November and beyond, as high pressure initially over the nearby continent tends to become more focussed to the north or northwest of the UK.
“This may allow areas of low pressure, south-shifted from their more typical tracks, to approach southern UK and bring rain or showers at times.
“As a result, after a relatively dry start to the month in the south and east it is likely to become wetter than average here, while conversely northwestern areas, after a wetter start to the month, will tend to revert to drier than average conditions.
“Temperatures will probably be close to average for much of this period as a whole, although some colder interludes are possible.
This comes as the UK also faces a bitter cold snap as forecasters predict snowfall over a 30-hour period, reaching as far south as Devon.
From 6pm on November 6 until midnight on November 8, the country will be hit by a cocktail of snow, rain, and icy winds, with temperatures plummeting to a chilly -2C.
Despite highs of 4C, certain regions will face freezing conditions, including north Wales, Yorkshire, and parts of northern Scotland.
In the coming days, parts of Scotland are expected to experience snowfall, with the north of the country predicted to receive up to 3cm/hr before 6pm on October 23.
Affected areas include Talmine, Tongue, Kylesku, Lairg, Ullapool, Dingwall, Garve, Kinlochewe, Strathcarron, Cannich, Fort Augustus, and Mallaig.
