UK storm map misery as England, Scotland and Wales to be blasted by downpour | Weather | News

The UK summer has got off to sweltering start, however the latest radar from an online forecaster is predicting a nationwide storm this week. On June 7, according to WX Charts, torrential rain will blast London and the south-east, the entire south coast, the Midlands, East Anglia, most of Wales, the north east and north west of England, and large parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Those in western areas may escape without getting drenched as rain may fall in the early hours of the morning, before the clouds move eastwards. Northern Ireland, for example, will be very damp in the early morning but by noon should enjoy clear skies. Eastern areas of England meanwhile will experience the opposite; there will be little to no rain as June 6 becomes June 7, however by 12pm the capital and surrounding areas will see very heavy rain, the forecaster predicts.

The Met Office has not yet released its radar data for June 7, and as such we do not yet know whether the national forecaster shares the outlook of WX Charts. However, the Met Office’s long-range prediction would support an unsettled start to the month.

After predicting rain throughout the week, the forecaster said the weekend into next week will also be wet. The forecaster said: “The unsettled weather of previous days is expected to continue at least through the start of this period, with many – if not all – areas seeing showers or longer spells of rain, and occasionally strong winds.

“At first, wet weather may be focussed across the south of the UK but it looks like this focus will fairly quickly shift northwards during the first few days.”

This Evening and Tonight:

A band of wind and rain will move steady east overnight, blustery showers following from the north and west, these will prove locally heavy. Winds will strengthen with coastal gales in the north and west.

Tuesday:

Rain will move across England during the morning, with blustery showers elsewhere. Remaining windy, particularly in the north, and feeling cooler than recent days.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Remaining changeable through the week with showers and longer spells of rain. Breezy with temperatures around average for the time of year. Often cloudy, with sunny spells at times.
