UK snow maps show Beast from the East smothering Britain in brutal -4C Norwegian blast


A Beast from the East will hit the UK in the coming weeks, with a -4C Norwegian blast bringing snow and ice, new weather maps show. WXCharts has forecast wintery weather, with minus temperatures, snow and ice possible, moving in from the east on February 27.

Snow has been predicted for much of the UK, with the east side of the country getting the majority of it. Central and north Scotland, from Glasgow to Wick, could see 6cm of snow.

Then there will be snow across the eastery half of the country, from Edinburgh to Dover, with up to 3cm an hour predicted to fall. It could get heavier in East Anglia.

There might also be some accompanying rain following in the wake of the snow, also stretched across all of the UK. More rain will fall in the west of the country.

Temperatures will be coldest in central Scotland where it will be around -4C from Inverness to Glasgow. The north of Scotland will sit at about 1C and the south will drop to -1C.

The west of England will be colder than the east, with a forecast around -2C for the north coast, from Carlisle to Manchester. Wales will be about -1C and Cornwall and Devon will be 0C.

The east coast will be a few degrees warmer, with temperatures of 2C in the north, between Newcastle and Hull, and 0C in the south, from Peterborough to Southampton.

Today:

Generally cloudy with spells of rain throughout, heaviest and most persistent in the west. Areas in southeast England seeing bright, even sunny spells. Feeling very mild away from the north, especially in brighter periods.

Tonight:

Rain moving eastwards with variable cloud and scattered showers behind, heavy near western coasts. Few fog patches forming in clear spells in the west and north. Mild for February.

Friday:

Rain to start in the southeast but clearing eastwards. Brighter weather developing but remaining mostly cloudy with scattered showers by midday. Staying mild within some light winds.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Rain in the west on Saturday moving eastwards through the day. Drier and brighter for Sunday with some showers in the west. Remaining mild for the time of year.
