New weather maps show that most of the UK is likely to have a snow-free Christmas, with 32 counties set to avoid any snowfall entirely.
Instead, many areas are expected to experience milder temperatures and rain, particularly in southern and central regions, according to forecasts from WXCharts.
The maps show that large parts of England, including the South, the Midlands, and East Anglia, are unlikely to see any snow during the festive period.
Counties such as Surrey, Kent, Norfolk, and Oxfordshire will likely remain snowless, with temperatures staying well above freezing.
Rain is expected in some areas on Tuesday, December 24 and Wednesday, December 25, making the chances of a white Christmas even slimmer.
The weather maps also show rain spreading across much of the South, Midlands, and parts of East Anglia over the Christmas period.
On Christmas Eve, light rain is forecast for areas such as Birmingham, Cardiff, and London.
This trend is set to continue into Christmas Day, particularly in the South East, where drizzle and overcast conditions are expected.
While most of the UK avoids snow, northern Scotland is predicted to see heavy snowfall in the days leading up to Christmas.
WXCharts maps show that on Sunday, December 22, parts of Inverness and Aberdeen could see snow depths reaching up to 6cm.
By Tuesday, December 24, some of this snow may remain, but it is not expected to extend further south.
Maps for Christmas day show that milder temperatures across the UK will reduce the chance of snow staying on the ground.
On Christmas morning, Scotland will see lows of around 2C to 4C in places like Inverness and Aberdeen.
Meanwhile, the South of England will have much higher temperatures, ranging between 7C and 10C in areas like London and Southampton, according to the forecast.
With these conditions, most of the UK can expect a wet and mild Christmas rather than a white one, with snow confined to a few areas in northern Scotland.
Nonetheless, Jim Dale, the founder of the British Weather Services, said that there is still “a long way to go” until Christmas Day, with forecasts likely to “ebb and flow” in the meantime.
