Britain is set to sizzle once again as the weather takes a warmer turn following a predicted chilly Bank Holiday weekend, with temperatures forecast to climb to a balmy 23C. Weather charts from WX Charts reveal a marked shift in conditions, showing a push of warm air spreading across much of the UK. After a spell of colder weather over the bank holiday, with frosty nights and daytime highs struggling to reach the mid-teens in parts of the country, a much more spring-like pattern is on the way.

The latest weather maps from WX Charts show large swathes of southern and central England basking in temperatures between 21C and 23C by early next week, with parts of East Anglia, the Midlands, and London likely to feel the warmest.

Even Scotland and Northern Ireland will see marked improvements, with temperatures reaching the mid-to-high teens.

The heat is likely to peak on Monday, May 12.

The Met Office outlook for the period from May 7 to May 16 supports this trend.

A spokesperson said: “The weather will remain dry with sunny spells across the UK from the start of this period, with temperatures slowly climbing day on day through the rest of the week.”

While showers may affect parts of the north and east – particularly northern Scotland, Orkney and Shetland – the majority of the country is expected to enjoy settled, dry weather.

Winds are forecast to remain light, though could become breezy in the far north.

“Temperatures will generally be near normal at first, with an overall warming trend by the end of the week,” the Met Office added.

“Temperatures will likely be above or around normal through the following week.”

High-pressure ridging in from the south, as seen in the 500 hPa geopotential height maps, supports the outlook for dry and warm weather as the jet stream lifts further north.
