Cold weather is set to roar towards Britain bringing a bone-chilling -4C blast in a matter of days as winter arrives.
New weather maps from WXCharts show a wall of freezingf weather covering the continent and bearing down on the nation by early and mid-November.
Britons could be waking up to temperatures as low as -4C in Scotland and northern England, with freezing being the norm for many on November 14.
Another cold snap is expected even earlier, with maps showing November 9 experiencing chilly conditions with much of the west of the UK feeling the mercury fall to minus degrees.
However, Jim Dale, founder and Senior Meteorological Consultant at British Weather Services, has predicted the real winter pain might not arrive until January.
He told Express.co.uk: “There will undoubtedly be a swing to colder at some point, late November and at times in December.
“But of late the coldest weather has appeared after New Year rather than before.”
Mr Dale added that weather-wise, it was still “all to play for” and that “we live in weird times”.
The Met Office long-range forecast from November 13 until 27 also revealed that some “colder interludes” are possible.
It said: “After a relatively settled start to November, around mid-month, there will probably be a change toward more unsettled conditions for a time.
“This means an increased risk of periods of wet and windy weather for parts of the UK, perhaps more so in the south.
“However, there is low confidence whether unsettled, wetter weather or drier and more settled conditions will dominate by the end of the month.
“Temperatures will probably be close to average overall, although some colder interludes are possible.”
