A blast of cold weather is set to hit the UK this week with freezing temperatures to come.
Maps from WXCHARTS show temperatures as low as -5C could hit the UK by Friday.
The maps show that on Thursday, some parts of the UK will see freezing temperatures of around 0C.
This will hit areas such as Wales, the south west of England, Cumbria and Scotland.
On Thursday, areas which will not see freezing temperatures include the midlands, the south east coast, areas surrounding Manchester and Newcastle, and the Lake District.
However, by Friday cold weather will hit even more of the country with most places likely to see temperatures of between 0C and -5C.
In Scotland, some areas could see as low as -7.
By Friday, only small parts of the UK will not see freezing temperatures, according to the maps.
This will include parts of the east coast, Newcastle and some parts of North Yorkshire.
The Met Office forecast says: “It is likely to be much more settled across the much of the UK at first with plenty of clear or sunny spells, and whilst some rain is likely at times, there is likely to be plenty of dry weather through this period.
“Winds will generally be lighter and this will bring the risk of overnight frost and fog to many central and southern parts.
“Towards the end of this period there is a greater chance of unsettled conditions returning, especially in the north and west of the UK whilst southeastern parts more likely to be drier.
“Overall, temperatures will be close to normal for most, but it is likely to be mild at times in the northwest. Brief colder spells are likely here in between weather systems though.”
While there is no snow forecast for Thursday 6 and Friday 7, Brits should expect chilly temperatures and wintery conditions.
