Tarik Skubal has been a Dodger for only two months, and it appears he’s already fallen in love.
Or at least has a teammate he’s close with.
Tyler Glasnow, Blake Snell and Skubal’s teammate, appeared as a guest on “Dodgers Territory” and was asked about their relationship. To which he responded, “It was love at first sight.”
“They’re two good personalities. They’re both really funny,” Glasnow said. “And I think they’re both just competitors, and they learn from each other.”
Glasnow said they have the foundation for “a nice blossoming friendship.”
Skubal and Snell’s friendship went to a new level after Skubal posted an AI video of the two performing the song “Hotel Lobby.”
Snell, who tried to become a rapper, was seen singing in the video, while Skubal was dancing beside him.
“Everybody knows how good of a teammate Skubal is and how much he cares about his teammates, and Blake is the same way,” Glasnow said. “It’s just been a nice melding of minds, I guess.”
Since then, the AI clip of “Hotel Lobby” has turned into the latest meme on the internet and has been used by fans to highlight their favorite professional athlete duos on TikTok.
While the duo invented the latest trend to take over the internet, they now are focused on playing in the NLDS beginning Saturday.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto, last year’s World Series MVP, is scheduled to start Game 1 of the NLDS. Skubal is expected to start in Game 2 and Snell in Game 3.
Snell has spent the last two months focused on staying healthy after missing most of the season due to loose bodies in his elbow.
Skubal is about to become an unrestricted free agent this winter and is chasing after first World Series trophy.
Since he was traded to the Dodgers during the MLB trade deadline, Skubal has been as good as advertised, going 5-2 with a 2.61 ERA, 70 strikeouts and a 1.9 WAR through 10 starts.
