Two reasons Meghan Markle’s new Netflix show is set to be a ‘huge hit’ | Royal | News

Meghan Markle’s new Netflix show With Love, Meghan is set to air in just under a week’s time, with royal fans across the globe intrigued to see what the eight-episode series will bring.

The show, which has already gained some hype across the world, will air on January 15, with scenes set to show Meghan hosting and cooking for some of her nearest and dearest celebrity friends.

This is set to include American actress Mindy Kaling and Meghan’s former Suits co-star Abigail Spencer.

Although some experts are unsure on just how successful the show will prove to be, especially as a result of Meghan’s unpopularity in the UK after quitting life as a senior royal alongside Prince Harry in 2020, one expert believes it will be a “huge hit”.

Nick Ede, Brand and Culture expert, exclusively told Express.co.uk that he thinks there are two reasons why the show will be a high flyer – Meghan’s “star power” and her social media presence.

Both these factors were missing from Meghan and Prince Harry’s Netflix series Polo, which aired in December but failed to get high viewer numbers.

The series featured very little of the couple and instead focused on the world of the elitist sport, which many could not relate to.

Speaking about Meghan’s upcoming show, Mr Ede said: “There have been some ideas that haven’t made it to screen like Pearl and Netflix have invested a lot in brand Meghan, this feels like it’s the perfect fit for her.

“I’m sure that this show with its great guests and wonderful production values will be a huge hit but if it doesn’t perform like the Polo show it will become cult viewing and build an audience over a longer period of time.”

He continued: “Meghan has star power and she’s putting herself front and centre and the combination of TV, social media and PR should stop it from flopping. The Polo show didn’t get much airtime and so didn’t ignite as much interest.”

The series, which was filmed at a property just a few miles away from Meghan’s own Montecito mansion, will air on January 15.

While Meghan will be at the heart of the show, Prince Harry is also set to make an appearance alongside his wife.

It is not yet known whether their children Prince Archie, five, or Princess Lilibet, three, will feature in the series.
