Emergency services were called to Hazlehead Academy shortly after 10.30am on Thursday, after reports of a serious incident on the premises.
A 12-year-old girl is understood to have been injured during an altercation involving a knife. The pupil was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, where it is understood she required stitches, reports the Press and Journal.
A pupil described the moment chaos broke out in the canteen during the morning break.
“It happened in the canteen during the morning break. Children were screaming and saw a girl with blood on her face.
“Teachers said afterwards it wasn’t a stabbing but some of my friends said they saw a knife.”
An Aberdeen City Council spokesperson said: “We can confirm that an incident occurred at Hazlehead Academy this morning. As a result, a pupil was injured.
“The pupil was collected by their parents and taken for medical treatment. The incident is now over.
“Police were alerted and are carrying out inquiries. We cannot comment further at this stage.”
A message from the school sent to parents states: “We can confirm that an incident occurred this morning.

“Police were alerted and carrying out inquiries. We cannot comment further at this stage but would want to reassure parents that all appropriate steps have been followed and support offered.”
A police spokesperson said: “At 10.30am on Thursday, 24 April, 2025, we received a report of a 12-year-old girl injured.
“She was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment.
“Inquiries are ongoing but officers are following a positive lead.
“This was a contained incident and there is no risk to the wider school community.”
