Turning point in Prince Harry and Prince William’s bond that meant it was ‘never the same’

Prince Harry and Prince William’s close relationship was “never the same” after one turning point, a royal expert has claimed.

Tina Brown, former editor-in-chief at Tatler, said the pair began to drift apart when William married Kate Middleton in 2011 as the Prince of Wales became focused on his marriage.

But despite the claim, Harry once described Kate as “the sister I’ve never had and always wanted” showing the Duke of Sussex still had a close relationship with the couple.

The relationship between the two princes is also said to have changed again after the birth of Princess Charlotte in 2015 according to Brown’s book The Palace Papers. She said Harry began to feel “displaced” as William got closer to the Middleton family.

Brown wrote: “Harry felt displaced by their bougie family unit, and couldn’t understand his brother’s obsession with his in-laws. Bucklebury [the Middletons’ home] world bored Harry to tears.

“[William and Kate] had a tight unit, and William [became] a full-on Windsor country bumpkin.”

Two years after their own wedding day, Meghan and Harry moved to the US shortly after their royal departure, settling into life in California with their young son, Archie.

Harry’s move to the US meant he was able to see his brother less and less and reports began to circulate over their fractured relationship.

It came after Meghan told of how she didn’t want Archie to attend a school in the UK due to safety concerns.

The Duchess of Sussex, 41, admitted she would “never be able to do school pickup” in this country because she would be fearful of both her and Archie’s safety.
