Trump’s presidential library will be the tallest building in Miami — and contain replica of his ballroom

WASHINGTON — Donald Trump’s presidential library will be the biggest building in Miami and feature a replica of the ballroom he’s adding to the White House, his son Eric said on Monday.

“It’s gonna be the tallest building in Miami, by far the best location in Miami,” he told reporters at the White House’s annual Easter Egg Roll. “The piece of land is incredible and we’re really excited.”

The president unveiled dramatic renderings of his forthcoming library last week showing a skyscraper towering over the Miami skyline — with the “Trump” family name illuminated near the top of the building.

But Eric Trump, who’s leading the library’s construction, revealed more details about the memorial to his father.

“It’s gonna be amazing,” he said, adding that no other presidential library will “even come close.”

The library will sit in downtown Miami, on the water, on real estate gifted from Florida to the president. After years in New York, Trump now calls Palm Beach his home.

Miami Dade College owned the 2.6 acres of land, which it was using as a parking lot, and deeded it back to the state. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis transferred ownership to Trump’s presidential library foundation for the sole purpose of building the library.

The president intends to have just that one library in Miami — despite serving nonconsecutive terms in the White House and having previously planned for an earlier site on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, his son said.

In the lobby of the massive building will be the Boeing 747 aircraft that served as Air Force One. The president’s son played coy when asked how the massive plane would be brought into downtown Miami.

“We will do it. You have to build the tower around the plane,” he said without offering more details.

Next to the plane will be a golden escalator in a nod to how Trump announced his first presidential bid.

Additionally, the library will contain a replica of the Oval Office as decorated when Trump occupied it, a replica of his Presidential Walk of Fame and a golden statue of the president with a fist in the air — possibly in reference to his “fight, fight, fight” gesture after a July 2024 assassination attempt in Butler, Pa.

The president hinted his library could also serve as a hotel. Trump built his real estate empire based on a series of luxury hotels bearing his name.

“I don’t believe in building libraries or museums,” Trump told reporters recently. “Could be [an] office, but it’s most likely going to be a hotel with a beautiful building underneath and a 747 Air Force One in the lobby.”

Eric Trump said he asked to lead the project because he wants to make sure the president is properly honored.

“It’s gonna be very special. He deserves it,” he said, adding that Democrats and other critics “put him through hell.”

He said the date of the groundbreaking would be announced soon and declined to offer a building timeline. The library will be paid for by private donations.

But he said the Trump library will be much different from a forthcoming presidential library: Barack Obama’s presidential center in downtown Chicago.

“It’s horribly bad looking,” Eric Trump said of the Obama library. “I mean, it literally looks like a prison.”

Obama’s monolith structure has drawn comparisons to the Death Star.

The Obama Presidential Center museum in Chicago’s Jackson Park is set to open to the public on June 19, 2026. The cost reportedly soared to $850 million — nearly triple the original $300 million estimate first proposed when the project was conceived.
