Donald Trump has revealed that Hamas has not yet returned the bodies of the dead hostages as the terror group appears to carry out publicaly executions on the streets of Gaza. The US president took to his social media platform Truth Social to announce that the 20 living Israeli hostages have been returned.
However, he fumed that Hamas has failed to follow through on the other part of the peace plan – handing over the bodies of the deceased. Mr Trump wrote: “ALL TWENTY HOSTAGES ARE BACK AND FEELING AS GOOD AS CAN BE EXPECTED. A big burden has been lifted, but the job IS NOT DONE. THE DEAD HAVE NOT BEEN RETURNED, AS PROMISED! Phase Two begins right NOW!!! President DJT.”
On Monday, the US President confirmed that phase one of his 20-point peace plan was complete, meaning the Israeli Defence Force (IDF) has withdrawn from parts of Gaza.
He said this gave Hamas “approval” to re-assert their control over certain areas.
Mr Trump added: “Well, they [Hamas] are standing because they do want to stop the problems, and they’ve been open about it, and we gave them approval for a period of time.”
This comes as horrifying videos appear to show Hamas members publicly executing people in the streets of Gaza.
In footage shared on social media, armed militants wearing green headbands associated with the terror group stand behind multiple victims.
The men are knealing on the group with blindfolds over their eyes, and look like they have been beaten.
Gunshots can be heard ringing out as the men fall to the floor while the surrounding men chant “Allah akbar”, meaning God is great.
In a statement, Hamas said the men were “criminals and collaborators with Israel”, though did not provide any evidence of this.
On Monday, it said it would eliminate “outlaws and collaborators with Israel” as it called to take back control of Gaza following the withdrawal of Israeli troops.
