Donald Trump’s military parade caused a stir on social media after eagle eyed users spotted soldiers marching out of step on America’s big day. The parade marked the 250th anniversary of the US army, but also fell on the President’s 79th birthday.
Trump was the brainchild behind the patriotic spectacle, and was reportedly inspired by a 2017 Bastille Day procession in Paris. He told reporters that the military show was going to be a “big day” and admitted: “We want to show off a little bit.” The parade featured more than 6,000 soldiers dressed in uniforms ranging from the Revolutionary War up to the present day.
However, it would appear that not all things went to plan, with images showing a contingent of soldiers marching very much out of step.
The video clip of the incident was posted to X social media by a former US Marine, who wrote: “When military men and women in uniform march, they march with tight timing and in lockstep as a sign of pride.
“These soldiers couldn’t be further from marching in lockstep.
“It’s clear that they don’t want to be a part of Trump’s Dictator Parade — and are just phoning it in.”
The post produced a flurry of comments, with many mocking the US President’s military jamboree.
One wrote: “I just showed this to my Korean War Air Force veteran dad and asked him what he thought of the video.
“He laughed. He said, ‘Annie! They’re supposed to be in lock step!”
They added: “Omg! This has to be intentional. If I did that my drill sergeant would have my ass! This is on purpose!!!’ and then he laughed and laughed again.
“Then he said, ‘Who’s Trump gonna fire?'”
Others jumped to the defence of US President, telling his critics to pipe down and take it easy.
One said: “The soldiers were smiling and waving at people in the audience.
“It was just not that serious of a thing. It was a celebration.”
