The tragic death of a  student in a car crash while walking her Huskies in the UK has left her family heartbroken, as they pay tribute to an “amazing” woman. Emilie Anne Parker, 30, hailing from Colorado, was fatally struck on Friday October 11 near Aviemore in the Scottish Highlands, a tragedy that also claimed the lives of her cherished huskies Carver and Roo.

In a poignant statement, her family honoured their “amazing sister, daughter and granddaughter,” who was studying at the University of Dundee. “Emilie was a smart, beautiful, courageous 30-year-old woman, who was taken from us far too soon,” they expressed.

Her zest for life was evident in her love for the outdoors, often found with her dogs, engaging in activities like biking, hiking, rafting, skiing, dog sledding or crafting when not busy with work or studies. “She was an amazing sister, daughter, granddaughter, niece, dog mom, and friend to so many who are going miss her so deeply.”

The family mourns: “The world lost an amazing person, and her loss is felt by so many who loved her. Rest in peace Emilie, and we will meet again in another life.”

The accident occurred around 9.45pm near the Granish junction on the B9152, involving a grey Peugeot 207.

The driver, a 20 year old man, escaped injury. Sergeant Calum MacAulay extended his condolences: “Our thoughts remain with the family of Emilie. They have asked for privacy at what is a very difficult time. Our enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances and anyone who can assist and has not already spoken to officers should call us on 101, quoting incident number 3786 of Friday, 11 October, 2024.”
