Arsenal are reportedly preparing to launch a formal offer for Viktor Gyokeres.
Club officials are said to have met with the forward’s agent last night in an attempt to accelerate a move.
It came during a turbulent day for the Swede, who was told in no uncertain terms by Sporting Lisbon that he would not be sold for a reported ‘gentleman’s agreement’ of £59m.
Gyokeres has been widely linked with the Premier League, with Arsenal, Man Utd and Chelsea said to be interested. But the Gunners now seem to be at the front of the queue.
CNN Portugal claims that Arsenal are now set to make an offer after speaking with Gyokeres’ agent.
The player is keen to join the north Londoners.
